Mission Statement
The Division of Criminal Justice prepares students for professional careers in criminal justice, criminology, public administration and related fields by applying multidisciplinary and comparative social science to understand, predict and explain crime, and contribute to the development of informed public policy as well as individual decision making. The program develops students intellectually, technically and ethically, while providing a comprehensive appreciation for the complexity of crime and public and private efforts to foster and maintain safe communities and ensure justice.

Vermont Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Reiber, Secretary of Human Services Cynthia LaWare, Department of Corrections Commissioner Robert Hofmann, College of St. Joseph President Dr. Frank Miglorie, VT Correctional Academy Administrator Barry Mulcahy and former CSJ Criminal Justice Division Chair, Dr. Luis Garcia congratulate two of the top performing graduates (Jonathan Paquette and Michael Allen) from the 21-member April 2008 class of the Vermont Correctional Academy during ceremonies at CSJ.
