Professor of Mathematics

Education: Toledo University, M.S.; Castleton State College, B.S.

Interests: Training my dogs and competing in agility and rally obedience; Softball and other sports; Hiking, biking and other outdoor activities; Movies; Reading; Travel; Chess; and Music.

Richard Cillo was born and raised in the Rutland area. He got his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Castleton State College and then went on to receive an MA in Mathematics from the University of Toledo. He spent 35 years teaching High School mathematics and in 2007 became the Professor of Mathematics at College of St. Joseph.

During his 40+ years in teaching he has also coached basketball for boys and girls, boys’ soccer and girls’ softball. Currently he serves in the capacity as pitching coach for the women’s softball team at CSJ and is also a private pitching instructor across the state of Vermont. In addition, professor Cillo trains and competes in agility, rally and freestyle with his three rescue dogs.
