The Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies is designed for students who desire initial licensure in Elementary Education (grades k-6). It prepares students for teaching children, including those with disabilities, in regular classroom settings.

The course of study has three components to prepare students that reflect the Mission of the College and are designed to meet the Vermont State Department of Education’s requirements for teacher certification.

The three components are foundational studies in liberal education, an academic concentration in liberal arts or sciences, and a sequence of courses in education. Students are required to complete the general education core of 39 credits, the content of the Multidisciplinary major requirements of 33 semester hours, the requirements for the elementary education licensure program of 43 semester hours, and a student teaching placement of 12 semester hours.
