College of St. Joseph Night of Italian Opera

College of St. Joseph will host its 16th annual Night of Italian Opera on Friday, June 18, 2010, in Tuttle Hall on the CSJ Campus, featuring five professional performers from American International Artists.

Year after year, people gather together in the Tuttle Hall theater to experience a night of outstanding vocals provided by opera singers, highlighting some of the best arias from the classical composers of Italian opera. Included in the program are popular Neapolitan love songs, which frequently excite the audience to sing along. Some in the region refer to this musical review as the alternative ethnic festival celebrating Italian culture in Rutland.

This year’s performers include soprano Shirley Ritenour, mezzo-soprano Rosalie Sullivan, tenor Mauricio Trejo, baritone Andrew Cummings and music director and pianist William Hicks.

The evening will begin with a silent auction at 7 p.m. The opera concert starts at 8 p.m.  The winning ticket for the 50/50 Raffle will be drawn at intermission.

Tickets for the opera are $25 per person. All of the proceeds from the auction, raffle, and musical performance will go to the CSJ Annual Fund for student scholarships.

Call (802) 776-5264 for reservations and further information.
