Summer on campus…
Summer is always a busy time on campus. Our summer programs started the week after graduation and will run throughout the summer with both day and night classes and special week-long courses that frequently include trips into the field. This summer is also special because we are involved in two major construction projects–the renovation of both of our residence halls. Both Medaille and Roncalli are being completely refinished on their exteriors to enhance their energy efficiency and aesthetic impact. Each facility is being clad with four inches of foam insulation covered with a stucco finish. The exterior colors are also being changed and a system of pillars is being incorporated into the front of each hall. In addition to the exterior work, a crew is also replacing all of the carpets in both buildings with laminate flooring which will brighten the interiors, be easier to keep clean, and allow each resident to change the color scheme of the room by the use of an area carpet of their choice.
I look forward to the start of the fall term when both our returning and new residents see the physical changes that have been made.
