With 19 years coaching experience, 11 in the lead role, Coach Phil Bartlett is one of the most experienced coaches in the state.

Phil began his head coaching career at his Alma matter West Rutland High School, winning 77% of his games, higher than any coach in the history of the institution. In his five years with the Golden Horde, Bartlett’s teams appeared in four State Championship Games, and he produced three 1,000 point scorers, turning West Rutland into a perennial powerhouse.

Coaching style

Coaching six players to the 1,000 point mark, his up-tempo, hard-defending style has become a staple in the area. Phil  will soon surpass the 100 win mark with the Saints, and his powerhouse teams are in the national rankings yearly, including several appearances in the top five.

Phil’s most important statistic is the amount of time his teams have spent serving the community. His Fighting Saints are constantly putting others in front of themselves, including benefits for local businesses, reading programs at local schools, and mentoring local youth.

A graduate of West Rutland High School, Phil attended Worcester Academy Prep and then Castleton State College. He is the proud father of two sons, Josh and Jake, and also serves as the athletic director at the college.
