Join us for the Freezing Finals 5K on the College of St. Joseph campus on Saturday, Dec. 14.
All proceeds from this 5k will support the Rutland Community Cupboard, reminding us how important donations and volunteerism are this holiday season. Wear your warmest winter layers, and don’t forget those Christmas sweaters, because the event includes an ugly sweater contest as well.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10 a.m. This pet-friendly event will cost $10 in advance. The cost is $10 and two canned goods or $15 at the event, and youth 16 and younger can participate for free. Free refreshments, including hot cocoa, will be available.
“A trifecta, a ‘perfect storm’, currently exists in the country, wherein unemployment numbers, food assistance numbers, and food prices are skyrocketing, while food streams, state funding and programs are on a decline,” said Meggan Lloyd, CSJ’s community engagement coordinator. “During this holiday season, too many individuals and families in the Rutland community will struggle with putting food on their table. Inspiration for CSJ’s inaugural Freezing Finals 5K/Walk grew out of the desire to bring students and community members together to collectively work to address this issue. All proceeds from this family-friendly, festive event, benefit the Rutland Community Cupboard, helping ensure a brighter holiday for all.”
This great event is sure to bring more warmth to your holiday season.
