GPS560A.1 Protecting Our Children at Home and in School

This course is designed to have students become more familiar with agencies that help provide educational support, mental health support, and community support in an effort to help reduce the potential risk of societal, media, cultural, and developmental negative influences on kids and teens. This course will look at how positive supports can help interact with kids/teens understanding of events and help with building on the resiliency that kids/teens have. This course will allow students the opportunity to look at how media, peers, family, professionals, and cultural influences all impact today’s kids/teens. Students will have an opportunity to look at how they can be an effective positive influence to a kid/teen. 3 credits.
