Harlem Superstars at College of St. Joseph

harlem_starsThe Harlem Superstars visited the College of St. Joseph and took on the Fighting Saints’ men’s basketball team to an appreciative mix of nearly 400 fans – from young to old, students and community members as well. The event was very successful from every perspective, bringing a smile to hundreds of faces as well as raising money for CSJ scholarships.

The Superstars are a group of talented basketball players whose main mission is to entertain kids and their families through the game of exciting show time basketball. Autograph sessions, dancing and high-fives were just some of the fan interaction seen at the game. They put on a great family show.

The Superstars were amazing athletes featuring show time dunks, a Chicken Dance, razzmatazz passing, and exciting tricks that kept everyone on the edge of their seats waiting to see what would happen next. Kevin “Showboat” Jackson, a seasoned veteran with ten years of experience, had a truly amazing no-look shot. Priceless. Chris “Super Chicken” Turnquist was hilarious. He is a great dancer with a wonderful Bohemian accent, which intrigues many people. Ricky “7-Footer” Lopes has twelve years of entertainment basketball experience and the kids really gravitated to the gentle giant. Other Superstars included Ron “Rock-it” Christy, one of the best “6-0″ dunkers in the world. His leaping ability for a man of his size was something special and the point guard, Mark “Hollywood” Jones, a three-year starter at the University of Dayton where he led his team to the NCAA tournament, was an outstanding ball handler.

It was great time to see some truly talented athletes. You can learn more about the Superstars by visiting their web site at: harlemsuperstars.com.
