Prospective Students
The choice of a college is big step in your future and we are pleased that you are considering the College of St. Joseph! When we talk with prospective students, we encourage them to look for the right “fit” in a college, where they will be valued, welcomed and an important part of the campus community.
The best way to learn about CSJ is to come and visit. We can design the tour to meet your interests, including sitting in on a class, meeting the professor in the area you wish to study, and even having lunch or dinner in our dining hall.
Our tours are available by appointment Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4 :00 PM, or other times can if these are not convenient for you. Contact the Admissions Office to arrange a tour, (802) 776-5286 or admissions@csj.edu.
If possible, we recommend that you try to schedule a tour Monday through Thursday. Since we do not have classes on Fridays, our students are largely off campus at jobs, internships, visiting their homes, or taking advantage of the four-season recreational opportunities in the area. Visit our Rutland Area page for more information on things to do.
Eight Great Reasons to Come to the College of St. Joseph
1. We are one of the most affordable private colleges in New England. Our tuition for the 2009/2010 year is $17,200 plus fees and room and board and we offer generous financial aid packages.
2. Our faculty have real life (not just classroom) experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to study with faculty who bring their experience to their teaching to add meaning to your courses.
3. No Friday classes. You can use your Fridays to do whatever you want…catch up on your studies, ski or snowboard, put in hours at a job, schedule an internship to further your career, or even travel home.
4. The CSJ campus is located in the heart of Vermont ski and snowboard country. In November 2008, we even opened a Terrain Park right on campus with a 630 foot elevation and seven natural and man-made features.
5. Our athletic teams are competitive in the NAIA Division II (Sunrise Conference). We offer men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, and cross country for men and women.
6. Our average class size is 12. You will have the opportunity to get to know your professors as well as classmates.
7. At the College of St. Joseph, you are known by your name and not a number. Within a few days of arriving on campus, you will notice that everyone knows you by name!
8. All students (even freshmen) can have cars on campus without a parking fee. If you have a car, you are welcome to bring it to campus with you.
